Katie & Scott - Taubman Museum of Art - Roanoke, VA
Where do I even begin with how awesome this wedding was?
Katie & Scott's story is so sweet. They first met through a mutual friend and Katie's matron of honor, Brooke. Scott and Brooke were coworkers and she had been telling Scott about Katie for a while. The night of Brooke's bachelorette party, the girls were out dancing when Scott showed up with a friend and the two were introduced. Katie had no idea that Scott even existed until then. It didn't take too long before these two became inseparable.
The proposal is definitely a memorable one. Scott's parents own a house in Ocean Isle and the two went down for their yearly vacation. They had a nice dinner and after, drove over to "Bird Island." It's a super secluded place that has some absolutely incredible sunsets. They walked down the beach and up over a big dune. As Katie turned around to walk back down, there was Scott - on one knee! It was such a perfect night for the two.
Now here we are - it's the special day! They chose gladiolus flowers for their key flower. It was an easy choice ever since Katie & Scott visited a local farmer's market where they saw a group of women selling them. They love how simple the flowers are while still making a huge statement. Their wedding colors were a lot of neutral silvers, greys, and golds so these flowers popped out with how bright they were.
Katie & Scott were wanting their day to be special and different from all of the other weddings they had been to. They wanted to give the guests a fun experience that they would never forget. With that in mind, every detail was meticulously chosen - from the flowers, the dress, the venue, and even their exit from the reception. Everything was so special!
Rather than the standard wedding cake, these two chose to go with cupcakes of all sorts of different flavors. It was so fun watching these two take a bite from their favorite flavors: strawberry shortcake for Katie while Scott had chocolate. They shared their first dance to Boyce Avenue's cover of "Say You Won't Let Go" by James Arthur. It was a perfect song choice for these two because of how much it related to the way they met. Katie literally looked over her shoulder the first time she saw Scott.
I asked these newlyweds what their favorite moments were from their wedding day. Katie loved when she turned around during the reception and saw a huge group of people in a circle with Scott dancing in the middle of them. It was hilarious! Scott loved their exit. The foam glow sticks that the guests were given were a perfect and fun way to end the night.
Congrats to this beautiful couple!
