THE LATEST POST

Emory and Sara had been going to school together since 6th grade. They had maybe talked a few times here and there but never really got to know each other. Her junior year of high school she started talked to this girl, who happened to be best friends with Emory since they were in preschool. During the second semester of Junior year, this girl started inviting friends over to watch movies every weekend, but they were so shy they wouldn’t even talk to each other. After a few months of awkward movie nights, she gets a notification that said “Your friend Emory Russell is on snapchat” with a button to add him as a friend. Shy Sara was totally out of character and added him AND snapchatted him and Emory responded to her snapchat almost immediately and they started talking back and forth, until finally one day he asked her to be his girlfriend.

They both knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together and had been talking about it, so Emory went ring shopping alone at first and got nervous that he would pick the wrong ring and brought her along the second time. They picked the same ring.

After a long day of driving and working that started at 4am, one night  she was falling asleep on the couch. Emory told her that they had to go to the chapel to get a hymnal book for his mom because she was playing the organ Sunday morning and needed to pick out songs to play. She agreed to go with him and thought nothing of it. They arrived at the chapel and the closet with the hymnals was locked, so they checked to see if the library had any hymnals. Emory started stalling at this point and she told him that they should just go back to the house because they had failed their mission. Emory told her to check the closet door one more time “because it sticks”, so she checked the door (it was still locked) and turned around and Emory was down on one knee. It was such a sweet moment with the two of them in the chapel with the cross behind us. “It represents what our relationship is and what we strive for it to be in the future” said Sara.

Sara & Chris – Couple’s portraits – Roanoke, VA

I met Sara almost three years ago, it was a year before she got married.. She was looking for a wedding photographer.
We had emailed back and forth and we set up a final meeting since they had chosen a date and at that point I only had one date booked for 2016. And there you go, they had picked the only date I had booked!

Katelyn & Ryan – Engagement – Roanoke, VA

Katelyn & Ryan met at a friends house (kind of) “he kept staring at me and I just KNEW he was going to talk to me but he didn’t, so I went home and downloaded Tinder and THERE he was, so I just KNEW we would match but after I Swiped right….we didn’t. Then, the next morning when i woke up I saw we matched and KNEW he was going to message me….but he didn’t. I got mad and messaged him saying, “I know you want to talk to me” lol. Then it was history after that!! “

Engagement

Julie & Tyler – Engagement – Downtown Roanoke – Oct 2017

Julie & Tyler met through mutual friends and being active in their small community of RockyMount.

Last year, for Christmas, Tyler gave Julie tickets to go see Miranda Lambert in Charleston, S.C. While there, one morning they went to Middleton Place Plantation for a fun morning and he asked a couple to take their picture. Julie was getting frustrated cause she didn’t want to walk all the way across the garden for a picture, but little did she know, halfway there was Tyler and he was down on one knee!

Engagement

Megan & Logan – Engagement – Virginia Tech Blacksburg, VA

Megan & Logan are such a fun couple! As you can see from the images, the engagement session was a blast! After only one month that they were dating, they attended their first wedding where Megan was one of the bridesmaids. Since then, they have attended about 35 weddings together!!!!

Now finally they are ready to soon celebrate and dance the whole night through their wedding in October!

Engagement

Allison & Matt – Engagement – Virginia Tech Blacksburg, VA

I met with Allison & Matt for their engagement session at Virginia Tech. It’s such a gorgeous venue to get some incredible shots. From the beautiful architecture to the park and ponds, there are so many great backdrops. This couple was such a joy to work with. They were just so natural together. I absolutely loved that about them. We did get a little bit of rain during the shoot but nothing an umbrella can’t stop! Plus, the umbrella shots are just too cute.

Engagement

Emily & Danny – Engagement in Roanoke, VA

How gorgeous are Emily & Danny? This couple was such a joy to work with. Emily was all smiles the entire time and the way Danny kept looking at Emily, you could tell it was love between these two. It’s incredible that these two wonderful people found each other. It makes for a perfect love story.
