Meet Pat

When I first Skyped with Emily & Chris I knew that we would get along… One of their favorite things to do is cooking! And coming from an Italian family cooking has always been a big thing for us. Dinner time, as most of my friends know, is very important to us. It’s the time when, after a full day of working, running errands, my son’s thousands of activities we finally get to sit together and chat while we enjoy a meal.

The evening we were Skyping, Chris was cooking meatballs!!! A match made in heaven!

We started off their engagement session picking apples at the Carter Mountain Orchard , then we headed towards the University of Virginia which is where they both went to college. Here is a little more of their story…

How did they meet: Chris and Emily lived in the same dorm their first year of college at UVA and met for the first time in the dining hall after an economy exam. They quickly became friends and started watching Notting Hill, pretending to study together, and dressing up for date functions at Emily’s sorority. It became clear that Chris really liked Emily when he came to visit her in Roanoke over the summer, showing up early in the morning with fresh Krispy Kreme donuts to impress her family. They started dating when they came back to school for their second year and have been inseparable ever since.

How he proposed: Seven years later, Chris decided it was time to make things official. The day before moving from Arlington to Charlottesville, Emily had plans for a girls day with her college roommates. However, Chris had been scheming with her roommates and their other friends to set up a surprise. After brunch, Emily was given a clue to a scavenger hunt, (how cool is that?!) that took her around D.C. with clues based on their favorite things, including Hamilton, Thomas Jefferson, and playgrounds. The final clue took Emily to her favorite place in Arlington, a park overlooking the Potomac river and the D.C. monuments where Chris asked her to be his lifelong friend and partner.

Also, can you tell by the pictures that they love to dance?!

Can’t wait for their wedding in 2019!! But for now let’s enjoy some of my favorites from their engagement session!
